On 30th June, the bands’ solo trombonist, Tetsuro Okamura, travelled to Coventry to compete at the 3rd City of Coventry and Warwickshire brass festival. Competing in the Open Slow Melody section against a strong field of experienced soloists, Tetsu came 2nd overall with a very musical performance. In addition, he also performed with players from the Aveley and Newham band in the Open Quartet section, where they also came in 2nd place.
The band would like to congratulate Tetsu for his latest achievement in what has been a very successful year for him, also winning the “Best Soloist” prizes also at the DFDS Seaways and SCABA Entertainment contests in 2012
