Regent Brass are a British Brass Band, based at Chalk Farm, North London. Musical Director is Alan Duguid, and the band is currently in Section 1 of the National Grading Tables. We rehearse on Thursdays from 1930, at the Salvation Army church, Chalk Farm, NW3 2BL.
Regent Community Brass was formed in May 2012 to provide an outlet for local musicians, both young and old, to get involved in playing with a brass band. The band rehearses on Tuesdays from 1930, at the Church of the Ascension, Wembley. The band competes in Section 3 of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.
Regent Brass are now well advanced in our preparation for the London & Southern Counties Regional Finals, which take place in the Gorden Craig theatre, Stevenage on 19th March. The contest has not run for the last two years due to the COVID pandemic, and the band is looking forward to returning to the event, which offers qualification to the National Finals in Cheltenham – in September – for the top performing bands. After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, Regent Brass finally made a return to the contesting circuit last weekend as we took part in the Scottish Challenge trophy, which is part of the annual Festival of Brass, organised by the Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA). The band last performed on the contest stage in 2019 at the London and Southern Counties regional finals, so this enforced gap in competitions was the most significant in the band’s near 40-year history. The band is taking part in the Scottish Challenge trophy contest which is being held on Sunday 28th November. Chris Bearman has reluctantly announced his resignation from Regent Community Brass. His final engagement will be the planned Christmas Concert in December. Chris has led the band to notable successes since his appointment in 2014. As Regent’s community focussed band, the band has enjoyed a number of excellent concerts as well as notable contest results, including an outstanding First Place in the French Open contest in Amboise, France.
