On Saturday 2nd March, the band performed alongside the highly-regarded Finchley Chamber Choir to present an evening of “English Music for Choir and Brass”. Despite being based only 7 miles apart, the two ensembles had never previously performed together which meant this was a very exciting collaboration. On 24th February, both the Regent bands travelled to the village of Woodstock to compete at the Oxfordshire and District Brass Band Association Winter Contest, in which each band performed a march and own-choice test-piece for adjudicator David Hirst. This was the first time in many years this contest had been held and provided a great opportunity to perform the set-works in advance of the London and Southern Counties Area Contest in March. On 16th December, members of the band traveled to Ruislip to perform alongside the fantastic Capital Connection choir at their Christmas concert for the first time. Due to space restrictions in the venue, a reduced 10-piece ensemble performed a short programme of music and accompanied the choir and audience singing several Christmas carols. The choir, lead by Debi Cox, performed a very diverse range of pieces with great energy and panache, which really showed off their talents as a Barbershop Harmony ensemble.…
