On Sunday 15th December, Regent Brass traveled down to Twickenham for their annual performance at “Festive Brass”, hosted by the Richmond Music Trust and Regent’ Flugel Horn, Vickie Curran. Once again, the band joined forces with Fulham Brass and the Richmond Youth Brass Band to put on a varied and exciting programme of music, which was well received by the audience.
The band opened up the second half with an exciting performance of “Midnight Sleighride” before welcoming RYBB cornetist Katie Brown to perform “Away in a Manger” as soloist with the band. After a bright and breezy “Carol of the Bells”, principal cornet Will Thomas wowed the audience with a virtuoso display in “Concert Étude”. The band then showed their lyrical qualities with a beautiful performance of “Irish Carol” before concluding their set with an exciting “MacArthur Park”.
After the obligatory carol “O Come All Ye Faithful”, all 3 bands joined forces for a performance of “We Wish You a Merry Xmas” and “Jingle Bells” to send the crowd home with a spring in their step.
Sadly this concert marked the end of MD Alan Duguid’s time with the band. The evening proved to be a fantastic send-off however with the band in fine form
We would like to extend our thanks to Ollie Lidgate and Lisa Stonham for helping the band out at this event.
